So many famous people in the world. There are so many others who would like to be famous. Someone (not sure who) once said "Fame is like laying out in the sun. A little can be a good thing, but if you get too much it'll burn you." Why is that? Why can't people be famous and it just work out? It never seems to. Movie stars trying to hang on to beauty into the twilight years through plastic surgery end up with an unwanted and unnatural look. Athletes playing way past their prime see their once stellar careers fizzle from the bench. Even the ones who are on top of the world (or so it would seem) many times clumsily deflect the praise or share it with others..."the director was brilliant...the 6th man was on his game...the fans are the ones who deserve the credit, we have great fans."

It just seems so awkward to be voluntarily or involuntarily placed in the spotlight. So again, I ask why is that? Could it be that humans simply were not meant to be famous? There are certainly those who wear it better than others but I do not know of anyone who I would say is good at it. I get it. We all need a hero. Someone who is a legend. That's why The Avengers is such a popular movie. The Marvel Universe is full of 'em. We've just got to make sure we cheer for the right One.

As for us mere mortals...we are called to be humble. But we do have a Hero. Jesus. Oh, and by the way...He is not humble. He is not deflecting praise and He sees no one as more valuable than Himself (of course, if He did He would be breaking the very first of His own 10 Commandments).  He is God. There is no one like Him and no one above Him. He is famous!

So, when the last clap has been clapped for every last human being...when there are no more seats on the New York Stock Exchange...when Canton misses a Hail Mary and Cooperstown strikes out...when all the Grammys and Oscars are disentegrated...and when the Nobel/Pulitzer/J.D Power and Associates Prizes are no longer awarded. The universe will still applaud for the Famous One.

I really do want my life to count, but not for my own fame. No. Mine and your call is to humble ourselves before the Lord. Let Him be famous in your life today and make Him famous in others!
