Raging On!

During a public television series, a handful of soldiers from World War II, recalled how they spent a particular day. One said he sat in a foxhole all day; once or twice, a German tank drove by, and he would shoot at it. Some others just sat and played cards and passed the time away. A few got involved in some pretty serious firefights.

But mostly, the day just came and went like any other day for a serviceman on the front.
Only problem was, this particular day was anything but "like any other day" and it was not until later, that these men learned they had just participated in the Battle of the Bulge, one of the largest, most decisive engagements of the entire war.

Now at the time it did not feel decisive to any of them, because none had the big picture of what was happening all around them.
You know, it can be that way for those on the front lines of a spiritual war as well. Every morning you wake up, there is a new battle being waged against you. The enemy wants to steal your joy, kill your faith and destroy your resolve to ever fight again. But Paul calls the Ephesians to "put on the full armor" and there is a reason for this.

So do not lose sight of the fact that though we are living the victorious life, we are still in a fight. A fight for joy...for peace...for significance. Let your day begin with a time of quiet prayer and Scripture reading. What you are expecting from the day may seem quite mundane. But God has called you to live it and as a faithful warrior, you are going to make a difference in this battle!
