Recently during a stroll along a well-known spot in the "Big Easy", I became painfully aware of this fact: There are places on the planet where the chasm between good and evil, light and darkness, midnight and morning is at its widest. I tread within a quarter where depravity is most despicable and immorality is embraced like a kept mistress. I have walked the alleys of this vile venue and have spied the sleaze that lurks at every corner. Someone switched the price tags here...what should be treasured is deemed tawdry and shoddy is snatched at a premium. Treachery is lionized and open shame is idolized. Words stuttering, feet stumbling, eyes stammering.
Oh, with every fiber of my being I want to cry out to this barren locale, "No!! Don't go that way! Don't crave that thing! Turn around and see that there is so much more for you...there is a relationship with Someone Who satisfies more than you could ever know...a Love that does not fade...does not flicker...does not change. A Lover Who never falls...never fails...never forsakes. A place where the friendship is intimate and the fellowship is sweeter than a dream. There is a Shepherd Who guides...a Savior Who saves...a King Who calls...and He is yours...you are His!"
Oh Jesus, help my unbelief...for the place of which I speak...is my heart.
