I rode my bike into a quaint little coastal community this afternoon and stopped for a short rest, enjoying more than just the temperate weather. From my cool wrought iron chair I spied a couple of snowbirds perusing the chalkboard menu outside a small cafe on the out of the way cobblestone while they considered lunch plans. The northeastern accents served them well as today they decided seafood was preferable to southern fare. A local lady swept the sidewalk just outside her high end swim suit shop and a man wearing attire more suited for the mountains than the beach walks his dog along a graveled path. I like watching people move about their day. Especially today because the pace is tempered, the plans are tentative and most everyone seems to be taking time to enjoy the lovely landscape. That's a good idea. I want to make an effort to do more slowing down...even come to a stop every now and then. Because as I sat there I developed an affection for the poky pace of this picturesque place. And God is exalted in those moments. Of course that is not entirely accurate. The truth is, He is ALWAYS exalted...always high and lifted up. It is just that when my soul stands still, I am able to take it all in like the scenery around me today in this delightful burg. So many days I am too busy to see small things like couples perusing, ladies sweeping, or gentlemen walking dogs. Or even big things like my God as His creation passionately spreads His fame! Usually I am on my way somewhere fast. So that is my lesson for today. Stop...be still...notice...know that He is God...He is exalted...and everyday He is the same. "Be still and know that I AM God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth" Psalm 46:10
