There is an enjoyable chill in the air on this third night of 2011 and as I sit on this back porch writing, my thoughts are swirling around the bigness of God. He's huge! So big that as I look skyward, I realize that only a massively limitless universe can draw the picture for me that God is boundless...endless. I'm dizzied by that intoxicating thought as it brings the inebriating reality to my finite mind that in the grand scheme of things, I am tiny...like one of the grains of cold sand on the beach across the street, my relevance is...irrelevant. Good to know my place..but so much better to know His. Knowing one is immaterial. Knowing the other is critical.
In case you've forgotten, silly heart of mine, it is all about Him. He is telling us a timeless story...painting on a huge canvas... weaving a massive tapestry...and all of it drawing us nearer to His Son Jesus Christ, as He shines the light on the Light of the World. Tune in...listen up...watch closely. With every ocean wave...every sunrise...every heart beat, He is telling us of His love, His mercy, His grace. And all three of these characteristics of our God can be described with one "little" word...BIG!!!
