I was sitting in a "Seattle's Best" waiting on a pumpkin latte (don't judge me unless you've had one) and a guy came and sort of sat in my personal space. You know what I mean? I assumed we all have this un-invadeable force field around us we'd rather people not infringe upon. Evidently, this does not apply in the Pacific Northwest, because he kind of muscled in on my established territory in the corner of the coffee shop. What can you do? Well, pray is what you can do..and so I did. I prayed that God would speak into His life and offer him the chance to glimpse His glory on this brisk Seattle Saturday morning. In the meantime I was pouring over James chapter 1 and asking God for His generous wisdom (as instructed) when he pulled out what looked like a Bible. I hadn't seen one of those during my visit to this corner of the country so I was hesitant to assume...perhaps this is the Quran,,,or the "Other Testament"...or some other self-important book with a posh binding. Then he did what I had been unwilling to do...He noticed I was reading the Bible and introduced himself. As it turns out, Shane is a pastor from the middle of this great state who possesses the same love for God's amazing Word as I do. We exchanged names and began to talk about a kindred spirit that exists among believers. I've got to tell you, his insights challenged me. He shared some thoughts that I will ponder for a few days and I was refreshed by the experience. I find myself grateful that God is so much more glorious than my finite mind can comprehend...and so thankful for like-minded believers that are making a difference all over this nation.
