More Wisdom from Imperfect Peter

Just thinking about Peter from our passage for this morning's message. Not a very good example of passionate obedience as he called into question Jesus' fishing advice. But he sets the tone for humility when the large catch came his way. Rather than rushing to figure out how to keep the big one from getting away, he rushes to his Savior's side and cries "Depart from me, Lord".

But that wouldn't be necessary. Christ had solved the sin problem that kept Love at bay. The cross was why Jesus came, and it would allow Peter's Lord to offer his soon-to-be best friend this hopeful phrase "Do not be afraid..." Can you think of a time when Jesus did something so unexpected...so undeserved that you knew it was His mercy and grace that brought you through? What was your response in those times. I’ll tell you the proper one…weeping in humility. But let your broken-heartedness be seasoned with boldness as you listen to Jesus' charge to Peter...and to you...

"from now on you will catch men."
