Some words that are key to the Christian faith have by the enemy's design been watered down or changed entirely so that we may not know their true meaning. They have been lost in translation so to speak. I'd like to remind us of the definitions of some of these words so that we may hold fast to the treasure of each as they fall from our lips and stir in our minds. I want to be clear that I am not saying the following are one of the definitions for the word. I'm saying there is no other definition except for this one. Let's start with the word "belief"
Here's the Greek: pisteuo - it means "pursuasion".
Here's the definition: Belief is the state of being convinced by the evidence that something is true.
Here's why this is important: Because it means that you cannot "choose to believe" something. You only believe when you are convinced by the evidence that it is true.
Here's one last thought: There is no difference between "truly believing" and "believing".
