It wouldn’t have held Him anyway! That big rock couldn't have stopped Him from walking out of the borrowed sepulcher any more than the walls of the disciples "hideaway" prevented Him from suddenly being in their midst after His resurrection. So what gives with the boulder being shoved away from the mouth of Joseph's crypt anyway? What's the point? Maybe, it was so that those who would "Come see the place" would have the same opportunity as the original "Easter sunrise seekers" who were asked the angelic question as Gabriel waxed poetic, "Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, for He is risen just as He said." Jesus' exit from the grave secures my entrance into eternal life. His grave clothes neatly folded and discarded means that so are mine. This is profound to me today...a pointed reminder really for each of us...if we don't HAVE to wear the burial garb then why do so many, walk around bound by the weight of the garment? Jesus set Lazarus free and did the same for you and me (I can wax poetic too) So, why do we sometimes act as though Jesus never conquered death...never rose from the grave...never pushed the stone aside. C'mon...no more peering into an empty tomb. The stone is rolled away...Satan is vanquished...Jesus is King!
