A Good Year

As the day closes, so does another year of my life. This was number 42 for me. I learned today that I share a birthday with Evel Knievel. No point...just thought it was interesting. I like birthdays because it gives me a chance to look back over the past year and get a glimpse of what's taken place...anticipate what lies ahead. The thought of that excites me...to know God more intimately...to lead others to know Him...to know His Word...pour over it's Truth...to be transformed into His image. Each new day is an opportunity to do just that.

I went to an aquarium recently...not like the 20-gallon one in my office, but a really big one with whales and sharks and whale sharks and star fish and angel fish and clown fish and jelly fish and all sorts of other sea creatures...some that moved...some that didn't...some were breathtakingly beautiful...some were breathtakingly ugly...some were predators...some were prey. A man with a mic tells us that some skim the surface of the oceans that cover 71% of this planet we refer to as "earth" and not "sea". Some live so deep that rarely have they been glimpsed by the human eye.

But now, here they are in this 9 acre facility that allows me to view them with wonder and awe...and it points me to a Creator that made these organisms so that He could enjoy them...so that He could display His glory, and I gaze with astonishment, and marvel at the process of creation and feel closer to the One Who also made this 42 year-old landlubber...gave me breath and life and allowed me to get close enough to know Him. He IS In a word Incomparable.
