This weekend we'll be getting together with some friends just to relax and spend a little time together. It seems that's a rare occasion nowadays. How did things get so busy? Not that I ever want to be idle, but I do want to be still...so I'm really looking forward to redeeming that time with them. It'll be sweet...come to think of it, there are alot of times I can look back on this week as sweet not-too-long-ago memories...moments that would be hard to repeat...like the other day when my four-year-old, while wearing gold mardi gras beads he'd found who knows where, said to his curious sister, "Hey...hands off the bling!" Or a Labor Day family trip to see a dollar movie about some silvery guy riding around in the sky on a surf board. Or the card a daughter and a crayon created for me reminding me of her unending love for her friend, Abby the octopus. Or worshipping with a few people at 8:30 on Sunday morning and finding I'm not the only one who loves "singing to the King" at the top of my lungs. What memories are you building right now? There are so many that can't be planned...can't be repeated...can't be replaced. Look around today...jot down a moment that caught you by pleasant surprise and relish it...bury it in the recesses of your memory ...let it feed you in those times that don't seem to offer many pleasantries, and thank God for the "you never know" moments that season our lives and point to His never-ending love for us.
