Almost everyday I take some time to run. I love running. There's something so spiritual about it, I think. It relates well to the Christian life we live. In II Timothy 4:7, Paul says that he has "run the race...kept the faith". Another time he reminds us to "run in such a way that we may win" (I Cor. 9:27). So I run. Sometimes my runs are longer (like 6 or more miles) some are short...3 miles or so...those are my favorite. When the shoes go on it seems the worry comes off and I just take a little intense time to become single-minded...to pour Truth into my heart. This usually comes in the form of a sermon series from my favorite communicator(s). Technology's so cool. A little downloading on the iPod Nano and I'm off. God always seems to teach me incredible things during these times. He's so alive...so abundant...so essential to my days that I find myself soaking in His Truth like a sponge in a summer storm. That's one way to do it I suppose. What way have you found that works for you to immerse yourself in the plans and purposes of your Creator? A comfy chair in the corner of your living room before the house wakes up...a stirring CD on the stereo in the garage as you tinker...a cup of java on the screened-in with a mug in one hand and a Sword in the other? God has some things He wants to tell you. It's incredible when you think about the fact that the words have been on the pages for ages there in His Love Letter to you. So I encourage you to find your place if you haven't already...and if you want to go for a run, let me know. But you'll have to bring your own Nano.
